This project is an ongoing renovation of an early 1990’s split level. The upper level consists of 3 bedrooms and 2 bath. The main lower level contains the kitchen, living room, laundry closet, entry and garage. With just under 1300 sqft of living space, space planning is crucial for this family home.

With its simple gable roof, wood siding and small footprint, the house has the spirit of a cottage. The property itself contains meandering low stone walls, boarding mature garden beds and a small creek that runs along the back of the property. The combination of which inspired Madison to approach the renovations with the character of a modern English-style cottage.

Soft layered neutral colours and textiles combined with rugged materials such as wood, stone and tile create an authentic and cozy atmosphere. The house strikes a balance between modern styling and traditional materials that soundly reflects Madison’s approach to design.
